Risk Retention Groups On The Up

Risk Retention Groups stand at their highest ever total in 2002 and already this year has seen 15 new risk retention groups, the highest annual total since the Liability Risk Retention Act was passed in the 1980's, according to the Risk Retention Reporter. Vermont and South Carolina saw the most risk retention groups formed this year (6 each), together with Montana, Nebraska and Nevada, according to the newsletter. The total number of risk retention groups is currently 84, though more are expected to be added before the end of the year. This is the greatest net number of risk retention groups ever listed in the Risk Retention Reporter. The previous highest total was 79 back in 1991.
