London November 11th 2011. Why I founded www.selfinsurancemarket.com as a business to business dating service for the self-insurance market by Dominic Higham, Founder www.selfinsurancemarket.com.

When I was once a Lloyd’s broker I used to spend much of my day queuing to see underwriters. The business opportunities that I worked on tended to come from a variety of sources, including managing general underwriters, third party administrators, insurance brokers and companies as well as reinsurance brokers. And not only were these opportunities from many different sources, but each one was different. Some were fronted programs for captives, some direct self-funded risks and others straight reinsurance. But what was common to all of them was that in each case there were a number of different types of professional service provider involved.
 
Occasionally I would have a piece of business to place that I had no idea who might be interested, who could help or how I could find them. As the internet emerged I started to think how useful it would be to have a single site that clients and service providers such as yourself could use to source companies and establish new relationships. Whilst still doing my day time job I started planning and designing a website that could achieve just that and more. Over the last few years we have developed the site and this year we have recently relaunched it as www.selfinsurancemarket.com.

You’ll see that we have a brand new video which explains how you and your colleagues can use the service to send out business enquiries to other companies, or just find them in the service provider directory. It’s easy to use and designed to help you make new contacts, a sort of business to business dating service as it has been described. What’s more if you are a corporate member then any of your colleagues can use the service to make new contacts.
